A few of my favorite things, Part 4: Lip color

I love lipstick. I tend to throw a lip balm on first, with the intention of priming my lips for lipstick but I don't always follow through. Lately when I do remember, I go for a bright shade of pink or coral. Here are a few that I've been reaching for.

Often I will purchase multiple shades when I find a formula that I like.  

1. L'Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Aqua Lacquer Lipgloss in Coral Tattoo: This product in the drugstore answer to the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stains. This product is slick and shiny like a gloss but is much more long wearing, like a stain. I like the wear time of this product and this is a great summery color.

2. Rimmel London Apocalips/Show Off Lip Lacquer in Nova & Celestial: I've already gushed about these here and here. The formula is basically a liquid lipstick. The shades that I've been reaching for, to wear to work mostly, are Nova and Celestial. Both mid-tone pinks. Nova is cool and Celestial leans warm. Which one I grab depends on what I'm wearing clothing-wise and other makeup-wise (eyes, blush). What I really like about this product is how light it feel on the lips. I hate to be wearing a heavy lip product in sweltering heat-- so uncomfortable.

3. Milani Statement Lipstick in Rose Hip and Hot Pink Rage: Milani recently reformulated their lipsticks. They do several different finished now. Rose Hip is a cream finish and Hot Pink Rage is a matte finish. Both have great staying power. Rose Hip is more fluorescent (think MAC's Girl About Town or Candy Yum Yum) and Hot Pink Rage is a deeper fuchsia shade. Though both formulas have great wear time, neither are drying.

I love brights and am trying to get a lot of use out of then before we dive into fall. I think that I'll still be wearing the Apocalips with a smokey through out the year. I'm sure the shades & formulas will continue to rotate. I'll enjoy them all.
