April Birchbox time!

On this rainy day, my Birchbox arrived! And when I open that familiar brown cardboard box, there was blue tissue rather than the signature hot pink. And a snack...nom nom nom. Changes ahead?

This month's box is entitled "Rainy Days"-- very fitting today. I received hair care, skin care (in foil packets, ugh), a mini nail polish, mini eye liner and a KIND bar. This is promising aside from those pesky foil packets.

1. Nyakio skin care: I received 3 foil packet samples: Kenyan Coffee Face Polish, Kenyan Coffee Body Scrub and Hydrating Face Oil with Kola Nut. I used the facial scrub and the facial oil today. The scrub is mild, smells great and rinses clean without being over-stripping the skin. The oil is lightweight but take a bit to absorb into the skin. I'll be giving the body scrub a try tomorrow!

2. Keim Cleanshine Energizing Shampoo: Peppermint and macadamia-- sounds stimulating. And, at 1.69oz, a very generous sample. Way better than a foil packet!

3. Color Club Gala's Gem Collection in Aquamarine: mini polish in a light pearly baby blue. This shade is not my bag. I'll probably just give this one away.

4. Cynthia Crowley Beauty Eye Pencil in silver: this is a creamy pencil that is supposed to set and become smudge-proof. Silver isn't a color that I usually wear but I can see using it in the inner corner and around the tear ducts when I do a dark smokey eye. I tested the staying power on the back of my hand. I let it set for a few minutes and then gave it a gentle rub but the liner pretty much rubbed off. Definitely not smudge-proof. What a bummer.

5. KIND Healthy Grains Maple Pumpkin Seeds with Sea Salt: this looked healthy and delicious...and it was. Yum!

3 out of 5 is not so bad! Despite the skincare products being in foil packets, which I usually hate, the facial products were really nice. I'm glad that they included a healthy snack this month. KIND bars/snacks are pretty tasty.

Next up, Ipsy Glam Bag!

Love,
Michele
