Too Faced A Few of My Favorite Things

I got this palette during the Sephora VIB Sales Event a few weeks ago. I've been playing with it trying to get a feel for all the products within this palette. This is my first experience with Too Faced Cosmetics but I've heard such good things from the beauty community, so I've finally taken the plunge. An it's all a play on the Sound of Music...love it.

This palette contains 20 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 2 bronzers, a deluxe sample mascara and a lip product. It also contains a little how-to booklet. Let's discuss the eyeshadows. There is a nice variety of  neutrals and bolder shades. There is also a variety of finishes: mattes, shimmer and glitter. Most of the shadows are pigmented and apply/blend nicely. There are two shadows that are a bit flaky, Snowflakes and Moon on Their Wings, when applied though Moon on Their Wings more so than Snowflakes. Chocolate Milk and Woolen Mittens are great mid tone mattes that work well in the crease and as transition colors. Honey Honey reminds me of UD Half Baked but not as pigmented. My favorite shadow in this palette is Tinsel, which is a bright shimmery antique gold. And then there's Party Time-- a gorgeous blackened teal duo-chrome....

Opposite the eyeshadows, you've got 2 blushes and 2 bronzers. Raindrops on Roses is a mid tone pink blush with subtle gold shimmer. Melt into Spring is a peachy-coral matte blush, which really warms up a complexion. Sun Bunny is a shimmery bronzer-- 1/2 light, 1/2 dark. Then you've got the infamous Chocolate Soleil, which is a warm toned, matte bronzer with a chocolaty fragrance. Frankly, I could do without the fragrance though the bronzer is nice for warming up my complexion.

I was interested in trying the sample of Better Than Sex Mascara. I've heard great things about this product but I just don't understand the hype after trying it out. Doesn't seem to be anything special in my book. The lip product, Lip Injection Colorbomb in Bee Sting is a very sheer, neutral balm with plumping properties. This formula definitely stings but I don't see it yielding any plumping effects. It's not my favorite.

All in all, I really enjoy the shadows and the face products in this palette. The colors are richly pigmented, coordinate to create a variety of look and the formulas are easily blended. I could forgo the mascara and the the lip product. I would definitely recommend this palette for the shadows alone though this holiday season.

Here's a few looks that I did with this palette:

I used Tinsel on the lid, Chocolate Milk in the crease and Dark Chocolate in the outter corner/outter crease.
I used Bluff on the lid, Woolen Mittens in the crease and Dark Chocolate in the outter corner/outter crease and lower lash line.

I used Honey, Honey on the lid, a mixture of Woolen Mittens and Milk Chocolate in the crease, Evergreen in the outter corner and on the lash lines and Dark Chocolate in the outter corner.

Seems like there are infinite combinations to be made. I plan to continue playing with this palette...or at least until my UD Naked 3 arrives!

Love,
Michele
