UD is my Vice

Urban Decay has been releasing a limited-edition holiday collection during the last quarter of the calendar year. Last year they released a few liner sets and the Vice Palette, among other items. This year, there are several limited-edition items but the stand-out product to me is the Vice 2 Palette. So naturally, I snatched up the Vice 2 Palette as soon as it was released. It's an addiction.

For those of you who are not familiar with Urban Decay--time to come out from under your makeup rock, haha. UD has been around since the late 90s, making amazing alternative shades of lipstick and nail polish to start (more here). They have since expanded to a very full line of make up products. My favorite are their eyeshadow palettes. Their shades are all pigmented and unique. Their eyeshadows have a vast array of  finishes including matte, satin, shimmer and glitter. Most of their formulas are buttery-soft, almost creamy, even though they are powder products.

I can fondly recall buying my very first UD single shadow in Shattered at Urban Outfitters in 1999...I was addicted right away! Ever since I've been a follower of the brand and a lover of their products. I'm a huge fan of their eye products in particular. They are the the standard for which I measure all other shadows and liners. So it's probably not surprising that I buy almost every eye shadow palette (hello Books of Shadows!) that they release.

Vice 2 has 20 all-new shades and comes with a double-ended brush (same brush that came with the original Vice palette last year) for $59. The colors are not too similar, so owning both Vice & Vice 2 is not redundant. Having swatched all the shades, there's a few duds and a few stars of the bunch.

From left to right:
1. Smokeout
2. Lovesick
3. Shellshock
4. Coax
5. X-rated
6. Prank
7. Madness
8. Strike
9. Stash
10. Poison

1. Radar
2. Damaged
3. Voodoo
4. Betrayal
5. Derailed
6. Dope
7. Toxic
8. Habit
9. Ambush
10. Rewind

The duds of the bunch, or shall I just called them the less pigmented shades, are X-rated, Strike and Stash. The real standouts are Shellshock, Damaged, Voodoo and Ambush. I do think that I can get better pay-off with the sheerer shades by using a colored base, which I will try. I'm not sure how into silver shadow I am but Shellshock is absolutely AMAZING. I will need to create a look with it. I'm totally psyched about this palette and I'm really glad that I snatched it up.

Love,
Michele
